Hongchang Coatings Company actively promotes the creation of a ‘waste-free factory’ to support the construction of a ‘waste-free city’.

To accelerate the development of a favorable social environment for the recycling of solid wastes and continuously promote green, low-carbon, circular development, under the strong guidance of the ecological and environmental departments at both the district and town levels, Foshan Shunde Hongchang Paint Industrial Co., Ltd. has actively worked to establish a ‘zero-waste factory.’ The company vigorously promotes the reduction and resource utilization of solid waste, contributing to the construction of a ‘zero-waste city.’

In creating a ‘zero-waste factory,’ Foshan Shunde Hongchang Paint Industrial Co., Ltd. aims to use advanced environmental protection technologies and management measures to achieve waste reduction and resource utilization within the factory. First, the company invests capital in technological upgrades to reduce solid waste generation at the source. For the two existing secondary activated carbon exhaust treatment facilities, the original granular activated carbon was replaced with honeycomb activated carbon. Compared to 2022, the generation of hazardous waste in the form of spent activated carbon was reduced by about 3 tons in 2023. In addition, the company plans to invest 1.18 million yuan in 2024 to replace the existing exhaust treatment facilities, upgrading them to zeolite rotary wheel + CO catalytic combustion equipment, which will completely eliminate the production of spent activated carbon and reduce VOC emissions by about 23 tons, achieving a 43.35% reduction compared to before the implementation. Second, the company promotes the resource utilization of solid waste to minimize disposal. Although the appearance of organic solvent after washing tanks is turbid, it can still be reused 3–5 times until it loses its dissolving power, after which it is treated as hazardous waste, saving 1 ton of organic solvent per year. Dust collected in dust collectors is regularly cleaned and used as filler, saving about 2 tons of material annually. Finally, the company strengthens employee training to enhance their environmental awareness and skills, enabling them to actively participate in creating a zero-waste factory.

‘Clear waters and green mountains are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver.’ In the future, we will continue to work together to further build ‘zero-waste factories,’ develop a circular economy, improve resource utilization, and contribute to the creation of a ‘zero-waste city’ in Foshan!
